Maguindanao 'sex strike' puts clan war to bed

Women in a Maguindanao village successfully held a “sex strike," putting an end to the “rido" or clan feuds in their area.

According to a Monday report on GMA News TV’s “State of the Nation" and “Saksi," wives in the village of Dado in Maguindanao took it upon themselves to put an end to the warring in their village by threatening to withhold sex if their husbands went on with their warring.

“Sige, punta ka diyan. Ikaw bahala, hindi ka makakauwi sa bahay, hindi kita tatanggapin," said Hasna Kandatu, a resident of the village.

A week after they first dangled the threat of a “sex strike" or “tigil pagtatalik," peace started to reign in the village—the farm to market road reopened, putting an end to the village’s dependence on rations.

The idea came from a group of women engaged in a sewing business; because of the constant feuding, they would be unable to transport their products along the village road.

As Miss Universe mania had been toned down and slowly loosing its glitz this year( but looking forward for  next year) everyone of us are busy looking for the videos of the said pageant and wanting to enjoy the memory of how excited we were, during the top 16 announcement when  Shamcey Supsup (Philippines bet)  made all the way to the top and luckily placed 3rd runner up to Leila Lopes of Angola.

Beauty pageantry for us Filipinos has made a great impact in our lives, it is something that every year we look forward to. Might be in our local baranggay, national or international and we love to cheer, we bashed, and we fight for our bet.

Shamcey Supsup is an epitome of beauty, charisma, religious fundamentalist and intelligence. At first, when she was crowned in our country she was half bashed and half praised. Everyone entitled to speak, and have spoken either negative or positive to her. Yet she proved that she can pulled such surprise that every bashers never think of she could deliver. Kudos to her!

A giant crocodile captured in Agusan del Sur in the Philippines last Saturday, September 2, is believed to be the biggest captive crocodile to date.

The said Philippine adult male crocodile, measuring 21 ft or 6.4 meters long, was captured alive along a creek by crocodile farm staff and residents in Bunawan in Agusan del Sur. It we are to check the records, the Philippine crocodile is the biggest so far.

Two larger certifiable records of the biggest crocodiles in the world are both of 6.2 metres (20 ft) adult crocodiles. The first crocodile was shot in the Mary River in the Northern Territory of Australia in 1974 by poachers and measured by wildlife rangers.

The second crocodile was killed in 1983 in the Fly River, Papua New Guinea. In the case of the second crocodile it was actually the skin that was measured by zoologist Jerome Montague, and as skins are known to underestimate the size of the actual animal, it is possible this crocodile was at least another 10 cm longer.

Asian Super Model Contest 2011 has begun on 27 August in Guangxi, China. 36 contestants from 10 asian countries (from Bashkir, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) participate and there are multiple participants from each country. And the contest will held on 5 September.
